According to reports that I have read over the last few weeks, 13 other state legislatures have passed “no texting while driving” legislation that became law this year. They will join 30 other states that have already passed similar laws. AAA of Arizona indicated in their most recent Highroads publication that they had lobbied on behalf of such a law and received cooperation from the Arizona State Senate, but that all matters concerning driving safety died in the Arizona House of Representatives. With primary and general elections coming up in the next few weeks and months, your state representatives and the governor, should be interested in listening to what voters have to say about driving safety issues. Make your voice heard. Call or email your representative or candidate and let them know that text messaging while driving is unacceptable in the state of Arizona and should be illegal.
